Trash / Environmental Services FAQ's

Below are some frequently asked questions Trash / Environmental Services commonly gets.

The composting site (north end of McCutcheon Dr) is operating during daylight
hours.  Due to heavy volumes a second location behind the Recycling Center may be
accessed (rely on on-site notices).  An alternate location is now open on Oak Ln (behind
Walmart – please access off Adrian Ave.) Please do not dump yard waste in the area
except in approved sites.

No!  Please do not start any fires, even if well contained, in Rolla due to extremely
dry and windy conditions.

Avoid contact with hazardous waste and report the location to Environmental Services immediately. We will coordinate safe cleanup procedures.

The recycling center will be in operation but citizens are asked to limit drop-off
through March 30 due to excessive truck routes and composting services.

Yes, but beware of long waits and extra truck traffic.  The City has opened a drop off
location at no cost at the old Public Works facilities off Sharp Rd. This location can only
handle small pickups/trailers where the (non-tree waste) debris can be hand loaded into
commercial dumpsters placed there. The site will operate from 8 am – 4 pm.

Yes, we will still provide daily curb-side trash pick-up except for those areas where
trash trucks cannot safely access.
